What exactly does Run With It do?
The Run with It Education Centre is located at the KCOM Stadium, we deliver innovative and challenging learning activities for children and young people. Although the Centre has a broad range of programmes and initiatives, the main focus is on raising levels of both literacy and numeracy.
We work with schools and education providers to design packages to support the needs of identified groups of children of all ages and abilities. Most of our packages focus on supporting schools with the delivery of the national curriculum specialising in English and Maths and the development of employability skills.
Although we have a catalogue of specific programmes we deliver we can be very flexible and specially tailor initiatives to suit the audience.
We have two classrooms that can be used independently or opened up into one larger room. Although this space is our base it’s the stadium that we use as our ‘larger classroom’ with many of our lessons delivered in and around the amazing facility. Run with It has fantastic access to areas such as the hospitality rooms, changing rooms, media suite, pitch side and many more.
Run With It provides real contexts for learning, which include new reasons for writing and opportunities to use maths. Examples of these functional ways to learn include the following ideas:
- Focussed maths activities in the retail outlets for both Hull FC and Hull City
- Area and perimeter using the KC Stadium pitch
- Match report writing in the press and media suites
- Speaking and listening exercises with Humberside Police in the small prison cell located under the stands
- Numeracy and Literacy hunts within the stands
- Digital photography and movie making sessions
The curriculum is planned and delivered by highly qualified teaching and support staff who work closely with schools and local advisors.
